Walter Dean Carr

Walter Dean Car (Walt), 75, of Golden Valley, Arizona, died of cancer that started in his lungs, then metastasized and spread throughout his body on April 12, 2019. Walt was born September 10, 1943, in Ogden, Utah to Helen Fowler and Alan Eugene Carr. He was the fourth of six children (Patricia, Larry, Frances, Barbara, and Dennis).

He was an Eagle Scout. He received a diploma from Ogden High School.

After high school, he married Janice Stephens. They had one son, Steven. They later divorced.

Walt served in the Navy for four years, then the Naval Reserves for two.

He married Geniel Wild in 1966. They had two children, Diane and Clinton.

He worked at a variety of jobs: Western Union in Salt Lake City, Jesse's Cafe in Perry Utah. He worked on an oil rig in Odessa Texas and at two or three casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada as a line cook. He was a locksmith for a time. He also served as a guard at the local jail in Kingman Arizona.

He received an associates degree in criminal justice.

He was passionate about his hobbies, entertaining groups dressed as a clown performing magic tricks. He assembled an assortment of animals for a petting zoo including chickens, pigs, goats, turkeys, and an emu. He wrote a column "Wisdom" for the Golden Valley News.

He joined the Masons ten years ago and was a master mason.

He loved the desert. In 1996 he and Geniel bought property in Golden Valley. They moved into a trailer in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Pat and Barbara and son Steven.

His is survived by his wife Geniel; his children: Diane and Clint, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

His family is grateful to the medical staff at the Kingman Regional Medical Center, especially Collie and James in the ER. Their care was super fantastic.

Walt was a confident guy happy with the life he led formed by the decisions he made. One decision, smoking, put an end to his life, erasing the chance to fulfill a list of possibilities he dreamed to accomplish.

It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Dean Carr announces his passing on April 12, 2019, in Kingman, Arizona at the Hospice home at the age of 75. Walter was born September 10, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was married December 2, 1966. He also served as a worshipful Master Mason Lodge # 79.

Walter is survived by his loving wife; Geneil Carr, daughter; Diane Carr, son; Clinton Carr, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Larry and Dennis and sister; Fran. Walter is preceded by his parents; Alan and Helen Carr, son; Steven Carr, and sisters; Pat and Barbra.

There will be a memorial service in honor of Walter held at LDS Church, 3180 Rutherford Ln., May 10, 2019 at 1p.m.

Walters body was donated to science to help with Cancer research.
