Richard Carlton Neves

Our loving father, brother and uncle returned to our Heavenly Father on February 4, 2012, after a fight with cancer.

He was born on August 8, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to Hildred and James Neves. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 25 years, and retired in 1993 as a Lt. Colonel. Richard served a mission for the LDS Church in Eastern Texas from 1962-1964. He graduated from Weber State University in 1969, one of the first to major in Computer Science. From 1980 to 2011, he worked at OSHA’’s Salt Lake Analytical Laboratory as an information technology specialist where he was always willing to help a colleague in need.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed camping, military history, aviation, traveling, and cruising around in his Mini-Cooper. He was a quiet, humble man whose children were his joy.

He is survived by his five children: Shannon (Mike) Moore, Jennifer (Dylan George) Neves, Michelle (Ryan Brainard) Neves, Corinne (James) Sroykum, Matthew Neves; brothers Max and Jay; and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a son, William.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the Union Fort 3rd Ward, 6710 South 1300 East, Midvale, where friends may call upon the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 3:30 PM at the Lindquist Washington Heights, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden.

Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Flowers are welcome or in Richard’’s honor go on a roadtrip, attend an airshow, or drink a Dr. Pepper.
