After leaving Ogden High I enjoyed playing football for one year at Weber College before leaving for an LDS mission to Brazil. Fell in love with the Brazilian culture and people and it has been a huge part of my life since. My brother Bob, a nephew, and two of my kids served there as well.

After Brazil, I went to Alaska and worked summers while I attended BYU at which it was my good fortune to meet the most beautiful, wonderful woman in the world who amazingly agreed to marry me. We both graduated from BYU in 1968 after which I went to graduate school at the UofU for an MBA.

Over the next 12 years I worked in middle management positions for two different Fortune 500 companies; Union Pacific Corp. in Omaha Nebr. and Crown Zellerbach in San Francisco. We had eight children in those first 14 years; one boy dying at two days old. My wife was envious that I got to go to work every day and I was envious that she got to stay home and play with the kids. (so I thought) So, I left that career and we started a home based business (Wellspring Publishing) that soon outgrew our home and we both had to go to work everyday. The kids all had a job from age six, so that became a part of our parenting attack.

We still own that company, though we have turned the operation over to another distribution company to handle the daily routine. Fortunately and unfortunately we have invested in real estate over the years and I still have to manage those rentals. We are now beginning to divest ourselves of those as we attempt to simplify.

Of our seven children, four are college graduates and two are still in school and soon will be. Five served LDS missions; Brazil, Mexico, Sweden, and California. We currently have 25 blood related grandchildren with another one coming in May. We also have 5 additional step grandchildren.

Our family has enjoyed boating and scuba diving as family activities over the years with many trips to Lake Powel and diving in Mexico and the Carribean. We have a daughter who lives in Carlsbad, Ca. and a son moving now to Phoenix. The rest live in the Ogden/Salt Lake area so we have reason to get around (Utah in the summer and Az and Ca in the winter)

In 1984 we bought our house in Sandy, Ut and have lived there since. We are now thinking that it would be nice to have a home in St. George in the winter. Although, my wife, who grew up in Florida, has her eye on a few places there for the winter.

Mike- I saw the video that they put on at the assembly. They had interviewed several people besides us of course. They did a good job with it. As I recall, it had a lot of history of the Iron Horse games over the years etc. When I get back to Utah in May I will try to contact the principal. She said she would get me one but I never did get a copy. She was a sharp lady who has done a lot to bring OHS back to respectability. She led my wife and I around and was very informative about the school. We had a great time at the game that night. I was sorry that you missed it all.

Mike- My four favorite months are now coming up. January, February, March and April. They used to be my least favorite. You might check out Cabo. We bought a three bedroom house in a gated community with pool etc. for less than 100M. Winter time temps average 78 degrees days and 65 nights. Beaches are better than anything Calif. can offer, restaurants are great, etc. etc. Take a cruise from Calif. and check it out. Round trip airfare is around $500 and flight time is less than three hours. Can't drive to St. George in that time.

Hey Bob, Happy birthday coming. It was so great to see you again at the reunion. Wish we could have had more time to visit. I still have many fond memories of the days spent with the 25th street bunch. Tom and Karen Jones, Ron and Ruth Hill, Bruce Handley, Bob O'Connor, Carolyn Correy, Mark, Lindsay, and Elbert Curtis. Those were good days. Hope to see you again at future events. Are you still in Utah? My wife and I spend summers in Utah and winters in Baja Calif. Will be back in May. Gene N.
