Faye Carlson Kotter

1943 ~ 2011 Faye Carlson Kotter, 68, passed away in her home November 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Faye was born in Manti, Utah on October 5, 1943 to Carl Jacob and Donna Ruesch Carlson. Faye was raised in a wonderful home with two sisters and a brother: Ruth Lowry, Karen (Norm) Stanley and Jake (Linda) Carlson. She was raised in Manti then later moved to Ogden, where she attended Weber State College and there met her husband, Wayne Kotter. They were married in Reno, NV on September 6, 1963 and later sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various capacities as well as serving selflessly in her community. Faye became an artist in quilting and served on the Utah State Quilt Board for 13 years. She was very active in many different sports, including skiing, golf, tennis, boating and hiking with her children and grandchildren. We will all miss her contagious laugh and sense of humor; as well as, her ability to listen, be trusted, and loyal to those who confided in her, both family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 48 years and their four children: Michael, Paul (Jennifer), Tom (Angela), Amy (Dan) Swensen. Her greatest joys in life were her children and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 12 noon at the Holladay 25th Ward building located at 4650 S. Naniloa Dr. (2800 E.) in Holladay. A viewing will be on Wednesday, November 9th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Dr., and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the day of the funeral. Graveside services will be held in the Manti City Cemetery November 11, 2011. At Faye's request, she has asked in lieu of flowers, "take the money and go do something fun with your family".
