Jeniece Hansen

Jeniece Delora Hansen Sherman passed away in her home on Thursday, November 18th, 2010.

She was born May 26th 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to George Wendell and Delora Nelson Hansen. She was raised by her mother, Lilas Morris Hansen and father Wendell Hansen, and was the oldest of 7 children.

She married Richard Sherman in the Salt Lake Temple and together they raised five children. They later divorced.

She graduated with a degree in elementary education from Weber State College and cherished her many years as an elementary school teacher in various positions.

She served in various callings in the LDS church, Jeniece valued service to the Lord and her family. Her role as Mother was her joy in life and she used every opportunity to serve and teach. She enjoyed studying the scriptures, education, children, music, nature, gardening, art, the classics, and swimming. She loved spending time with her large extended families. A loyal, thoughtful friend, she will be dearly missed by many.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Delora; and her brother Brian Hansen. She is survived by her mother, Lilas; her siblings, June (Terry) Schow, Floyd (Barbara) Hansen, Larue (Bob) Strong, Lynette (Carl) Cook, Nila (Taylor) Newman; her children, Annette (Andrew) Gebert, Kaye (Bob) Levine, DeAnn (Todd) Patterson, Michael (Kathryn) Sherman, and Jerry (Jennifer) Sherman; as well as 17 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Heritage Ward Chapel, Layton, Utah.

Interment was at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah.
