Hal Staker

31 Dec 1942 - 07 Sep 2017

Hal Kent Staker, age 74, son of Merle Elda Staker and William Elmer Staker, born December 31, 1942 in Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2017 in Ogden, Utah, at Ogden Regional Hospital.

Hal graduated from Ogden High School and also attended Weber State College. Hal served as an Airborne Ranger the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in May 1965. After serving in the U.S. Army he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist for 35 years, retiring due to health issues.

Hal married his sweetheart, Lynette Marie Tracy on September 3, 1969. They recently celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary. Hal and Lynette had 5 children, 8 Grand Children and 3 Great-Grand Children.

Hal was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. Loving and caring for his family was his greatest joy in life. Papa, as we all referred to him, was a friend to everyone and was always known for his kindness, generosity, and love. Papa had a heart of gold and would help anyone, anytime who was in need. Papa loved to go camping, fishing, sitting by the fire and telling stories. Papa had lots of stories and we loved to hear about all of his adventures. He enjoyed working on cars and spent many hours in the garage working and rebuilding car engines. Papa battled with health issues for many years, but never complained about how sick he really was. We will miss Papa but know he is in a better place and free from pain.

Hal was a member of the Clinton LDS 7th ward and held many different positions within the church throughout his life.

Hal is survived by his wife, Lynette Marie Staker, his children, Shawn (Rachel) Staker, Kent, Hal W, Amanda, and William; brother William (Jan) Staker; Sister-in-law Janeen (Keith) Olsen, brother-in-law Kevin (Trini) Tracy, grandchildren; Mindy, Mandy, Maddie, Morgan, Kaitlyn, McKayla, Annie, Tyler and Shaylee; great grand children; Dakota, Daxton, and Jadin.

Hal is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elda Sawyer and brother in-laws Ram Sawyer and Mark Tracy; nephew Vance Sawyer; father in-law Eugene Tracy and mother-in-law Joyce Tracy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all family, friends and medical professionals who have assisted in any way with the love and care shown to Hal over the past few years.
