William Howard Tribe II

March 29, 1943 — July 19, 2024

North Salt Lake, UT

William Howard Tribe II, age 81, of North Salt Lake City, Utah, passed from his mortal life at his home surrounded by loved ones on July 19, 2024. “Bill” Tribe, son of Howard and Annis Tribe and loving, caring husband of Susan “Sue” Bell Tribe, took his last breath after a short illness of Cancer.  

William's love for his family was profound. He is survived by his wife, Sue, and five children: Amy (Paul) Parker, Alissa (Shawn) Beck, April (Scott) Giauque, Aaron (Stephanie) Tribe, and Alison (Chase) Memmott. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren and one great-grandchild. William is also survived by two siblings: Tyra (Robert) Hazen and Jan (Bryan) Millerberg.  

William was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From a young age, he gained a testimony of the Savior through prayer, following the promptings of the Holy Ghosts, living prophets, scriptures, and faithfully attending church and the temple. He served on a mission to Hamburg, Germany, as did his father and grandfather. His heart was of service to family, friends, and neighbors, and his love and devotion to caring for people was evident in his life and imprinted on our hearts. He did his best to follow the Savior and used his love for music and the Gospel as a missionary tool to help others feel loved, which has blessed his family for generations.  

William’s patriotism: He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1967-1974. He served once a month for seven years. That service engrained a love of country and a love for the inspired Constitution. He supported and voted for candidates willing to protect and defend it. One of his greatest honors was to be a Utah delegate at the national convention 1980, where he held firm and cast his vote for Ronald Regan.  

William was known for his strong work ethic. He crafted these skills working in the family business, Tribe’s Furniture, with his parents, Howard and Annis Tribe, until 1980. After dozens of jobs in various sales positions, he became a long-haul truck driver. He has over 4 million accident-free miles and was part of the “Million Mile Club.” He drove for over thirty-seven years, ten of those years with Sue as his co-captain. Those were some of the best years of his life.  

William was adventurous and took full advantage of life: canoeing the rivers, hiking on holidays, biking, traveling, fishing, hunting, and camping. Whether he was on a river or a trail, he knew he was “charging his batteries” and would have a story to share around the dinner table with his loved ones.  

William’s imagination, stories, and zeal for life will forever be remembered, and all will greatly miss him. However, his Spirit lives on, and we will all be united again as an eternal family. Thank you, Dad, for keeping your covenants and for loving Mom.  

Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foxboro Stake Center, 954 West 1100 North, North Salt Lake, Utah 84054.
